Description
The Rain Drop sensor is a highly responsive environmental module designed to detect water droplets or moisture on its exposed sensing pad. It operates on the principle of variable resistance; when water bridges the conductive traces on the pad, the electrical resistance drops, which is then processed by an accompanying control board. Equipped with an onboard comparator and an adjustable potentiometer, it provides both a continuous analog output to measure rainfall intensity and a digital output for simple threshold-based triggering. In educational STEM curricula, it is a fantastic tool for introducing students to weather monitoring and automated home concepts. When paired with microcontrollers like the Arduino UNO or Magic Board, it is widely used to build smart weather stations, automated windscreen wipers, and smart agriculture warning systems.
