Description
The bare Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) is a fundamental passive component whose electrical resistance decreases as ambient light intensity increases. Unlike pre-built sensor modules, this standalone component requires students to construct their own voltage divider circuit using an external fixed resistor, providing a highly practical lesson in analogue signal conditioning and Ohm’s law. It is an excellent educational tool for teaching the physics of photo-conductivity. When wired to the analogue input pins of microcontrollers such as the Arduino UNO or Magic Board, it serves as the foundational component for building custom light meters, laser tripwires, and automated day/night lighting systems from scratch.
